Culturally Responsive Social Studies for
Grades K–2—Core or Supplemental
Living and Working Together can serve as a core social studies program for Grades K–2, a multicultural supplement to your current program, or as a source for outstanding nonfiction reading.
As a core program, Living and Working Together provides a complete social studies curriculum for your grade level and meets the NCSS standards.
As a multicultural supplement, this program has been enthusiastically implemented in several major urban school districts. One reason: its strong and positive portrayal of African American and Latino families. Students can see themselves in the textbooks they read, building self-esteem and increasing motivation.
