Produced in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education Unit (ADE/SEU) Grades K–12 The new RIDE™ (Responding to Individual Differences in Education) Reading Intervention Bank is a multimedia Web-based program consisting of 100 validated instructional tactics across five critical areas of literacy: phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Based on 20 years of research, the program addresses reading problems common to many struggling students. It is an effective tool to reinforce specific literacy skills that some students have not yet mastered. Assessment probes help the user identify appropriate instructional tactics with the following information: - At a Glance. Indicates what the tactic is, who it is for, necessary instructional materials, and lesson length
- Rationale. Provides information about the research base underlying the tactic
- Preparation. Outlines how to prepare for the tactic lesson
- Lesson. Lays out sequential steps for teaching the tactic
- Remember. Reinforces key points from the rationale or from the lesson
- Variations. Presents ways to modify the tactic
- Progress Monitoring. Outlines techniques for measuring the tactic interventionís success with individual students
- Resources. Provides Web sites and materials designed to make teaching the tactic easier
- Supporting Research. Cites research in support of the tactic's effectiveness
More than 20 of the RIDE Reading Intervention Bank tactics have accompanying two- to seven-minute videos demonstrating an aspect of the research-based strategy. For additional ease of implementation, all necessary instructional materials, student worksheets, and monitoring resources are just a click away. |
