Daily Oral Vocabulary Exercises (DOVE) improves students’ academic discourse while building background knowledge and comprehension. DOVE focuses on 72 high-frequency academic vocabulary words and their related words, including synonyms, antonyms, and derivatives. Including related words, students develop a fluent, flexible understanding of more than 450 academic words. Targeted academic words are encountered an average of 50 times in varied contexts—so much distributed review makes learning stick!

DOVE’s multisensory approach involves vocabulary-specific partner activity, structured discussion, distributed review, and teacher feedback.
