We Can!

We Can! is a comprehensive, research-based early childhood curriculum that provides successful learning experiences for both teachers and children. The We Can! Early Childhood Curriculum is aligned to state and national standards, including the Head Start Outcomes and the The Early Childhood Outcomes Center (ECO) Child Outcomes Summary Form (COSF).

The We Can! Early Childhood Curriculum helps teachers create successful learning experiences and supportive classroom communities using:

  • A multilingual program that honors diversity and literacy development using English, Spanish, and American Sign Language (ASL)
  • A classroom management system that incorporates whole- and small-group instruction, learning centers, and individual opportunities for children to practice making choices
  • Two Choice Discipline, a proactive approach that develops personal and social skills, active decision-making, and communication skills
  • Multiple assessment options to collect data and monitor progress
  • An integrated curriculum that allows children to actively participate and use information in guided
  • practice opportunities
  • Monthly scope and sequence pages that provide a "road map" for instruction each month
  • Daily lesson plans that help teachers know what to teach and how to deliver effective instruction
  • Letter Sounds and Strokes, a phonics program in English and Spanish
  • I Can Draw, a prewriting program that uses art to develop fine motor coordination and print awareness
  • Daily activities in math, science, social studies, oral language, and written expression
  • Literature, music, and poetry to enhance learning experiences with rhyme, rhythm, exploration, and movement
